Suspect arrested in Rocky Mount convenience store robberies, police say

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCN) — A suspect was arrested in connection to an armed robbery that happened in Rocky Mount Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday at 6:30 a.m., Rocky Mount police responded to the Speedway gas station at 1212 Bethlehem Road regarding a robbery. Police said the business was robbed of an unknown amount of money, and the suspects left the area.

Later that day, another robbery was reported shortly after 11:20 a.m. at the EP Mart at 701 South Wesleyan Blvd. Officers learned the suspect went into the store and demanded property.Police searching for man accused of robbing Rocky Mount convenience stores, police say

As the investigation continued into Thursday, investigators traced details regarding the incident. Investigators learned an attempted robbery happened at EP Mart at 1211 East Raleigh Blvd. at 4:30 a.m.

Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Trimaine Williams. He was charged with:

  • Two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Attempted robbery
  • Resist, obstruct, delay
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Police said Williams committed another robbery in Sharpsburg and attempted one more robbery in Nash County.

Williams was located on Paul Court. Police said he attempted to flee, but was taken into custody with help from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.

He was transported to the Edgecombe County Jail and received a $38,500 secured bond.
